Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Arrest In Frederick, MD

What started with a report of a stolen vehicle in Montgomery County, Maryland, carried into Frederick County with a vehicle pursuit and ended with the successful arrest of Rhashad Johnson, age 21, of Frederick.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies responded to a stolen vehicle pursuit on Ballenger Creek Pike. After several successful stop stick deployments, the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Cap Stine Road and Ballenger Creek Pike. There were no injuries reported, including from the suspect, in the vehicle incident.
After getting a thorough description of the stolen vehicle, deputies quickly located it at a local WaWa, where they attempted to talk with Johnson. He fled the scene in the stolen vehicle leading the deputies in a pursuit. Keeping the public’s safety at the forefront of this incident, the deputies used the stop sticks wherever they could and eventually were successful in stopping Johnson before he could cause any harm. A stop stick is a device used by law enforcement to impede or stop the movement of wheeled vehicles by puncturing their tires.
