Resident of Montgomery County Charged with Murdering a Hagerstown Man

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, a Montgomery Village resident is charged with the shooting and killing of a man in Hagerstown.

Responding staff found Kalen Nathaniel Black, 21, inside his home in Fair Oaks Court with a life-threatening gunshot wound, the sheriff's office reported. Hospital workers were attempting to save Black's life, but at the scene, he succumbed to his injury.

Online case documents reveal that Lauron Zacherie Hoyle, 35, is charged with first-degree and second-degree murder and 17 other offences, including robbery and weapons offenses. Without bond, he

is being detained. The sheriff's office reports a 911 call of a shooting in Hagerstown was received by Washington County at 4:30 a.m. Dec. Fifteen.

The sheriff's office alleges that after a fight with neighbors at home, Hoyle came to Black's house and opened fire on Black. Hoyle escaped and was arrested with assistance from the Montgomery County Police at his home in Montgomery Village that afternoon, the Washington County Sheriff's Office reported.

The investigation is continuing, at this time.
