Bystanders rescue 17-year-old from drowning in Potomac River
A 17-year-old boy tried to swim across the Potomac River from Virginia to Maryland Sunday night and almost drowned until two off-duty lifeguards saved his life.
Montgomery County authorities said the two lifeguards performed CPR on the teen and had him breathing again before emergency officials arrived, news outlets reported.
The teen was in stable condition Sunday night.
Swimming in that area of the Potomac River is prohibited because the “currents are very strong.”
