Air Force Reports Death of United Arab Emirates Military Member
On Saturday, the U.S. Air Force announced the death of a service member
who was killed on Friday in a non-combat incident in the United Arab Emirates.
The Air Force said Saturday in a statement that Cpt. Kelliann Leli, 30, of Parlin, N.J., died in an Al Dhafra Air Base non-combat-related vehicle crash. The causes of the incident are currently being investigated.
At Travis Air Force Base in California, Leli was assigned to the 60th Healthcare Operations Squadron.
Al Dhafra Air Base soldiers are assigned to engage in and undergo training missions alongside allied forces.
Last week, under a "dynamic force employment," the military deployed F-16s and airmen from pangdahlem Air Base in Germany to the base. The deployment came in the midst of increasing relations with Iran, which were further inflamed this week after the assassination there of a top nuclear scientist. No nation has admitted blame for the shooting.
